Abortion drug will be free in Ontario beginning next week

The Ontario Liberals announced today that the province will provide the abortion pill for free as of August 10.

The Liberals promised in their May budget they would pay for Mifegymiso, or RU-486.

Status of Women Minister Indira Naidoo-Harris announced Thursday that "women with a valid health card and prescription from their doctor or nurse practitioner" can get the abortion pill for free "at participating pharmacies across the province" in a week’s time.

The health ministry says the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada has trained some 150 provincial healthcare providers who can prescribe medication to prescribe the abortion pill, the CBC reported.

The ministry will be billed $337.25 for the drug, it reported.

Mifegymiso, or RU-486, is a two-drug combination of Mifepristone, which blocks progesterone, essentially starving the baby to death in utero, and Misoprostol, taken 24 to 48 hours later to induce labour to expel the dead baby.

Pro-abortion groups lauded the news.

After his sister died in a botched abortion, he’s fighting to shut down Planned Parenthood

Tyler Sheppard’s laissez-faire attitude toward abortion changed forever when his beloved sister died after an abortion.

Cree Erwin-Sheppard, 24, went alone for an abortion last June 30. She also had an intrauterine device (IUD) implanted.

"Cree went to Planned Parenthood by herself and ended up getting an abortion," Tyler told LifeSiteNews. "Immediately after the abortion, she started having complications. She was in agonizing pain, and it wasn’t getting any better over a couple of days."

Bishops slam Trudeau's abortion-obsessed foreign policy: Abortion is not a 'Canadian value'

Canada's Catholic bishops slammed the Justin Trudeau Liberals for putting global abortion rights "at the core" of the country’s foreign policy.

The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops sent a strongly worded letter to Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland on June 29 after the minister told the House of Commons earlier that month the Liberals have put abortion and "sexual reproductive rights" at ""the core" of Canada’s international commitments.

Freeland also stated the Liberals were seeking a two-year seat on the United Nations Security Council to globally promote access to abortion, which she described as a "Canadian value."

But the bishops blasted Freeland's statement "erroneous, confusing and misguided," and rebuked the Liberals for pushing a "political ideology" and "particular" brand of feminism while disregarding the genuine needs and convictions of people in the developing world.

Amanda Marcotte wants people to abort babies with Down syndrome

North Dakota recently passed a bill outlawing the abortion of babies based on birth defects, like Down syndrome. Pro-lifers and disability advocates alike cheered the decision, because it is horrific to deprive a baby of life simply because he does not meet our society's standards of perfection.

It is disgusting to see how low we will stoop to avoid "defective" babies, with mothers aborting their children even for very minor defects like cleft lips, which can be repaired. For North Dakota step up and ban these abortions is a step in the right direction, reaffirming that people with disabilities and birth defects have intrinsic value and worth just as the rest of us do, and that they deserve life, too. Some people, though, disagree.

BREAKING: Judge censors video exposing Planned Parenthood. See it here.

A federal judge may hold David Daleiden in contempt of court after his attorneys defied a gag order and posted videos on their website of top abortion executives discussing decapitating babies and selling their body parts. The shocking video, which was a compilation of comments made at a secretive abortion trade show, has been pulled from YouTube "for violating YouTube's Terms of Service."

LifeSiteNews saved a copy of the video, and posts it here without the consent or knowledge of the Center for Medical Progress, David Daleiden, or his attorneys.

On Thursday, Steve Cooley and Associates (SCA), former Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley, and former Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney Brentford J. Ferreira announced they are defending Daleiden and the Center for Medical Progress (CMP). CMP's groundbreaking undercover videos showed Planned Parenthood executives and workers haggling over the prices of baby body parts, picking through the arms and legs of aborted babies in a pie tray, and discussing how to alter abortion methods to obtain better body parts for sale.

The videos resulted in a Congressional investigation and calls for the abortion company to immediately lose its taxpayer funds.

The footage released yesterday was from the National Abortion Federation (NAF) conference. It showed abortionists admitting the work they do is "killing," complaining about how "difficult" it is to tear apart a fetus, and lamenting that they’re not given a place to discuss the "heads that get stuck that we can’t get out."
