Public school teacher sentenced on child porn charges

A Toronto public school teacher has been sentenced to nearly four and a half years in prison on charges related to child pornography. However, with credit for time already served, Stewart Adams will spend less than two years in jail. Adams plead guilty to possessing, distributing and accessing child porn.

RCMP head to Texas in search for Canadian victims of polygamist pedophile Warren Jeffs

Warren Jeffs, head of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, is at the centre of a probe in Canada and the United States of cross-border smuggling of child brides.

RCMP officers will head south shortly to meet with Texas Rangers and gather information about underaged Canadian girls who were married to or by Warren Jeffs, the convicted pedophile and leader of a fundamentalist Mormon group. No officers have yet been assigned to go to Texas nor is there a timetable for the trip.

Canada: Child Poverty Rate Fares Poorly in UNICEF Ranking

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has launched its ninth report card, entitled The Children Left Behind: A League Table of Inequality in Child Well-being in the World’s Rich Countries. The report shows that when it boils down to the material welfare of our nation’s children, Canada has slipped to 17th place out of 24 high-income countries evaluated by UNICEF.
